Det. 1 changes command

GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  Lt. Col. Scott J. West assumed command of Detachment 1, 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Grand Forks Air Force Base during a change-of-command ceremony May 23.

Colonel West, the former Chief of MQ-1 Requirements Branch, Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, Va., replaced Lt. Col. Eric L. Armstrong, who will return to Beale AFB as the Commander of Det. 1, 9th Operations Group, 9th RW.

Col. Lawrence M. Hoffman, Commander of 9th OG, 9th RW, was present to officiate and speak at the ceremony.

"This is a great day at Grand Forks Air Force Base," said Hoffman. "We are thrilled to have Colonel West become a part of the 319th Air Base Wing as Commander of Detachment 1 of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing."

Upon assuming command, West shared his eagerness to lead the mission forward.

"It is a distinct honor and privilege to be selected for this leadership position," said West. "To the men and women of Detachment 1 - let's roll!"
