Grand Forks' week-long external Environmental and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program evaluation is slated to begin March 26 and run until March 30.

The EOHCAMP is the Air Force's annual self-assessment tool that helps commanders check the status of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) - a structure of framework used to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental programs, determine the installation's impact on the environment, identify and evaluate environmental risks, and refine and continually improve the process and plan for the future.

A team led by environmental and occupational health experts from Air Mobility Command, along with private environmental and engineering contractors, will examine base activities for compliance with laws and regulations.

The key areas designated by the AMC for assessment on Grand Forks AFB will be hazardous materials and hazardous waste operations, along with occupational health and bioenvironmental, according to Larry Olderbak of the 319th Civil Engineer Squadron.
Olderbak said it is important for all base personnel to be up to speed on all EMS base policies, as anyone is fair game to be questioned by inspectors.

In addition to these key areas, two significant aspects that are important for all personnel to be familiar with that will be assessed will be the base small arms range and the smart meter energy hookups.

Smart cards with helpful EMS information and Unit Environmental Coordinator contact information will be issued to all base personnel by their respective UECs prior to the assessment. If you have any questions, please contact your squadron UEC.
