For the second time in less than three weeks, Grand Forks hosted Air Force aircraft evacuated from Nebraska due to dangerous weather conditions on May 1, 2012.

Grand Forks officials got the word late Tuesday afternoon that five aircraft from Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., were being diverted because of weather.

About 100 personnel arrived on aircraft belonging to the 55th Wing, officials said.

One aircraft was to return Wednesday. The other four were to remain at Grand Forks until Thursday.

Heavy rainfall and hail pounded Omaha, Neb., home to Offutt AFB, early Wednesday morning, according to local news reports.
