New TRICARE Contractor: Referrals Expire at the end of May Published April 4, 2013 GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- You have likely received a letter or two recently informing you about the transition in TRICARE to a new contractor. While these letters are informative they may have left you with some questions on exactly what this means to you. In a nutshell, your TRICARE services will remain the same, but United Healthcare Military & Veterans (UHMV) took over management on April 1, 2013. One key issue to be aware of is the effect the transition will have on referrals. If you have a referral in place written prior to April 1, it will expire May 30, 2013. The only exception to this rule will be obstetric referrals for expecting mothers. To prevent delays in receiving care, the 319th Medical Group urges patients to be proactive and contact their primary care manager at 701-747-5601. This call will allow you to place a Telephone Consult (T-Con) with your provider to reissue you a referral. We apologize for the inconvenience. For any questions regarding referrals, please contact the referral management center at 701-747-5481 or 701-747-5316.
