1st Lt. Cara Ebner's resume has had to be updated several times in her life. It's reflected her career as a teacher, an Air Force officer, and most recently, a published author.

"I've been fortunate to have many jobs that I've loved," the Lieutenant, assigned to the319th Mission Support Services Squadron said. "As a teacher I was able to impact the lives of children and I love what I do in the Air Force, but writing is my true passion."
On May 31, her first book, "Blood Cult," was published by a local publisher, but it isn't the first time she has put her creative thoughts down on paper, nor is the sequel the only project she's working on.

"I've always written," she said. "In the past, I mostly wrote short stories since I quickly got bored if I couldn't finish something from start to finish. I always have multiple ideas for stories in my head and I have a tendency to want to get them down on paper quickly or else move on to the next project."

According to Lieutenant Ebner, as she matures as a writer, she is able to focus on longer projects and even more than one novel in different genres.

"My first book is a fantasy - horror story. I'm working on the sequel, but also a murder-mystery novel set in the local area," she said.

Another project Lieutenant Ebner is working on is about a tanker crew that crashes and is forced to overcome unforeseen obstacles to survive.

"My stories are character driven and are based either on specific people I meet, or in the case of my tanker crew story, on characteristics of many different people," she said.

The true reward for the new author is finishing a novel-length book, and that accomplishment has been a catalyst for future projects.

"Sitting down and finishing a book is something I've always dreamed about," she said. Being able to hold the published product in my hands and seeing the cover with my name on it is a bonus."
