Colonel TIMOTHY A. MONROE

Colonel Timothy A. Monroe is the Commander, 319th Reconnaissance Wing, Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. As Commander, he is responsible for leading the premier reconnaissance wing comprised of three groups, 14 squadrons, and three detachments, executing a budget of $70 million, and employing aircraft, equipment and facilities valued at $3.8 billion.

The wing trains, deploys, and redeploys over 2,200 Airmen in support of Air Expeditionary Force and combatant commander requirements. It also provides facilities and equipment support for the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, the Space Development Agency, and Defender support at Cavalier Space Force Station. The wing is one of two worldwide locations that operate the High Frequency Global Communication System, providing operational support of senior leader communications for all Department of Defense agencies, including the President of the United States.

Colonel Monroe is a Distinguished Graduate from the ROTC program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and completed pilot training in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. He is a command pilot with more than 2,000 hours in various aircraft, including the F-15C, A/T-38, and MQ-9A. He has led or flown combat and combat support missions for Operation NOBLE EAGLE, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, Operation SENTINEL, Operation JUNIPER SHIELD and Operation ATLANTIC RESOLVE.

Prior to his current position, he was the Commander, 25th Attack Group, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, providing global MQ-9A operations to combatant commands.
