The 319th Medical Group held an annual medical readiness training to prepare airmen with home-station medical care procedures in the event of a real-world incident, Aug. 6, 2026, here.

DECON LLC is decontamination and in-patient care training that teaches airmen how to provide care for incidents that involve chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or hazardous materials.

“The purpose of this training is to make sure we are ready to respond to any kind of mass casualty event that happens here on base,” said Tech. Sgt. Austin Jenks, 319th Health Care Operation Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge. “The training involves teaching airmen how to respond, prepare and care for patients when faced with these situations.”

The two-day course provides airmen with classroom instruction on decontamination, hands-on familiarization with equipment setup and practical experience responding to a simulated event.

“This training isn’t just to aid in response to weapons of mass destruction, it's for train derailments, it’s for oil spills, it’s for anything where we have to decontaminate patients and we aren’t able to bring them into the hospital," said John Fuller, decontamination education and consulting trainer. “This training places airmen in a live environment, where they can safely prepare and learn for real-world events.”

Nineteen airmen participated in the training. They were separated and assigned to be a part of triage, manpower or inpatient decontamination teams.

“You never know when an event like this could happen,” said Col. Warren Conrow, 319th MDG commander. “These trainings are critical; our teams rotate frequently, so maintaining readiness and consistency is essential to prepare our airmen for anything.”
