Grand Forks Air Force Base lockdown has been lifted as of 4:35 p.m. local time and normal operations have resumed.

Just after 1:00 p.m., security forces personnel received a report of a single gunshot near the medical clinic and base exchange. Out of an abundance of caution, they issued lockdown procedures to respond to the scene.

No injuries were reported, and no source of the sound was located during a thorough door-to-door sweep which concluded late this afternoon, providing ‘all clear’ just before 5 p.m.

Grand Forks, as with all Department of Defense installations, continually monitors the threats against its people, resources, and facilities and implements appropriate security measures.

Grand Forks Air Force Base leadership would like to thank local law enforcement, emergency responders, and the school district for providing fast and expert response.
