The 11th Annual Air Force Marathon will be held 15 September 2007, at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, as part of the AF's 60th Anniversary celebration. Marathon organizers have set a goal for 10,000 runners to participate. New, this year, is the "MAJCOM Challenge," whereby a traveling trophy will be presented at the Fall Corona to the command with the most points based on participation, and the highest male/female finishers in the full- and half-marathons. Lt Gen Chris Kelly, AMC/CV is personally encouraging maximum support and urging AMC Airmen to participate.

AMC will fund male/female teams in the full- and half-marathon events. Individual and group participation is highly encouraged and permissive TDY is authorized for participants. Your AMC base fitness center has more details. Interested personnel can also register on line at; www.usafmarathon.com. For additional information regarding this special command initiative, interested personnel may contact Lt Col Joe Vitale, AMC HQ Services at DSN 779-7816.
