Twining Middle School sixth graders held their annual Iditarod on March, 4 with parents and students cheering on the six teams. Using Alaska's 1,000 mile race as a guide, the students learned about math, social studies and reading. They also learned about being trustworthy, respectful, caring and responsible citizens. The race simulated the real race in many ways and emphasized cooperation amongst teammembers. There were six teams with 'mushers' and 'doggies' working together to meet all six checkpoints.
