How to sponsor guests onto the installation Published April 17, 2013 GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- There have been some recent questions on the proper way to sponsor a guest into the installation. The following information will assist you with getting your visitors on base in a timely manner. Sponsors may call the Main Gate at 701-747-4270 to sponsor guest onto the installation up to 24 hours in advance. Please note that you must utilize a phone line with a 747 prefix to call in your request. Sponsors must provide the Security Forces entry controller with the visitor's full name, date of birth, and social security number. If you cannot call from a 747 prefix, you can bring this information to the Security Forces entry controller posted at the Main Gate. A background check will be conducted on all guests prior to their entering the installation. If no personal disqualifying information is discovered during the background check, your guest will be issued a visitor pass. If you have not pre-registered a guest, he/she will have to park in the visitor's lot and enter the Main Gate to be issued a pass. All visitors are required to show a valid driver's license, valid State ID, or passport to the on duty entry controller to verify the visitor's identity prior to them receiving a pass. If a foreign national is coming to visit you, please allow more time to process the request, because a more in depth background check is required. If you will be escorting your guests at all times on the installation, you can meet them at the Main Gate, they will be allowed to park their vehicle in the parking lot, get into your vehicle and you can escort them onto the installation without a pass. Guests will still need to have a valid driver's license, valid State ID, or passport in case they have to provide proof of identity for any reason. Please note, you cannot escort foreign nationals onto the installation without a pass. If you have any questions regarding entry requirements for guests onto the installation please contact the Commercial Visitor Control Center at 747-5177.
