Shown is the Grand Forks Air Force Base First Sergeants Council logo with black background in full RGB color created using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop CS4. Commercial reproduction of this emblem is NOT permitted without the permission of the proponent organization and or head of the Grand Forks AFB First Sergeants Council. Grand Forks AFB First Sergeants Council is a non-profit, professional military organization on Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. Its membership is made up primarily by Air Force senior enlisted service members in the pay grades of E-7 to E-9 or the ranks of master sergeant, senior master sergeant or chief master sergeant. In the United States Air Force, first sergeant is not a rank, but a special duty held by a senior enlisted member of a military unit who reports directly to the unit commander. Often referred to as the "first shirt", or "shirt", the first sergeant is responsible for the morale, welfare, and conduct of all the enlisted members in a squadron and is the chief adviser to the squadron commander concerning the enlisted force.
