School Liaison

School LiaisonWelcome to Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota School Liaison Website. Over 80% of military children are educated in non-Department of Defense schools. School Liaison Officers (SLO) can act as the first point of contact for military families transitioning into a new community. School Liaison services are designed to focus on education through direct and proactive partnerships with local schools and will tailor transition assistance to the military families current needs. You can get connected to a School Liaison Officer at any Air Force base and in all branches of service!

This website will hopefully help you to obtain answers to your questions. Please use this website as a clearinghouse for educational information for the entire family! Families enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) can also utilize this website for the most current EFMP news. If you can't find the information you are in search of, please contact Grand Forks AFB School Liaison Officer Kelly Painter at DSN: 362-4484, or 701-747-4484. Fax: 701-747-4171. The SLO Office is located at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, 575 Holzapple St. Bldg 207, Grand Forks AFB, ND, 58205. You can also find the School Liaison Officer on Facebook.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is a mandatory enrollment program that works with the medical community and key community agencies to identify Active Duty sponsors who have family members with special education or medical needs. At Grand Forks AFB the EFMP-Medical (EFMP-M) and EFMP-Family Support (EFMP-FS) agencies work together to provide comprehensive and coordinated services to families.

The EFMP Working Group is a newly established team that consists of on base agencies, school representatives, and parents. The group meets monthly at the Airman & Family Readiness Center. The goal is to get a pulse on what the issues are surrounding military families who reside on Grand Forks AFB and provide sustainable resources that will benefit the entire family. This team is still evolving. If you would like to be a part of this team please contact Mike Johnson at 747-6437.
