He's no Hank Hill, but one Grand Forks Air Force Base crew chief is a very proud Texan.

Senior Airman Christopher "Aaron" Evans, 319th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. Airman Evans enlisted in the Air Force because he wanted something different.

"I needed a change," he said. "I wanted to see what the world had to offer."

And what the world had to offer was Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.

"This is my first-duty station," said the huge Texas Longhorns fan. "I've been here since October 2007. I've enjoyed it, but I miss Texas deeply."

Although he misses his home state, Airman Evans is looking forward to his next assignment.

"I just got orders to Hawaii," he said. "I'm very excited to see what opportunities I will get while I'm there. I can't wait to see what else the Air Force has to offer."

Airman Evans works on aircraft and although he hasn't deployed yet, he realizes the importance of his work down range.

"I'm hands on some of the aircraft that is helping us win the war," he said.

When he's not working, Airman Evans spends time with his wife and two dogs.

"My wife and I work opposite shifts," he said. "So, we make the most of anytime we get to spend together."

Airman Evans also enjoys playing video games, watching sports and having bar-b-ques.
