As the Airmen in building 313 know, when Master Sgt. Trevor Parson, 319th Force Support Squadron manpower superintendent, walks by your office, you should be prepared to take cover because you never know if he will throw the freebies from Demand Reduction at you.

Sergeant Parson said he has been enlisted in the Air Force for 18 years and 11 months.

"It will be 19 years on Nov. 20," said Sergeant Parson.

Sergeant Parson hails from Oil City, Pa.

"Oil City is a small town located about an hour and a half north of Pittsburgh," said Sergeant Parson. "Oil City is an oil town; the town itself contains the first oil well that was dug in the U.S."

Sergeant Parson joined the military from there and for the first 13 years of Sergeant Parson's career, he was a security forces airman.

"As a security forces airman, I was stationed at five different bases in 12 years," recalled Sergeant Parson. "I cross-trained into manpower back in 2004 and I have been at Grand Forks Air Force Base since then."

Sergeant Parson said he has two reasons why he joined the Air Force.

"My primary reason why I joined the Air Force was for an education," stated Sergeant Parson. "The second reason why I joined the military had to deal with family. I come from a diverse military background. My grandfather was in the Navy, I had an uncle in the Marines, my step-dad was in the Army and my dad was in the Air Force."

Currently, Sergeant Parson said he is working on obtaining two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in human resource management and the second in criminal justice.

"I am also currently working on completing a black belt in Six Sigma," said Sergeant Parson. "Six Sigma is a business management strategy developed by Motorola."

When Sergeant Parson isn't working or studying, he spends his free time with his children.

"I have four sons, their ages are 17, 13, 9 and 5," said Sergeant Parson. "My wife and I are constantly with the kids, we live for the kids taking them to all of their sports and everything else they have to do."

Sergeant Parson also volunteers as a coach for youth sports in Grand Forks, N.D.

"This year, I coached one of my son's baseball team," said Sergeant Parson. "Our team won the championship game. Baseball is our family sport; all of the boys play it. Well, that and basketball."

Sergeant Parson said some of his future plans include finishing his two degrees and to make senior master sergeant and move to a command position.
