The main gate at Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, will close June 18 through July 20, 2018, to complete construction of the guard shack and improve security barriers.

During this time, the 24-hour gate for inbound and outbound traffic will be the south/commercial gate off of highway US-2.

Visitor’s passes will still be issued through the Visitor’s Center at the main gate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Outside of those hours and on holidays or Air Combat Command family days, passes will be issued at the commercial gate.

“While this construction may seem like an inconvenience to those accessing the gate, these improvements will greatly improve the working conditions for our security forces Airmen working the gates 24/7,” said Col. Benjamin Spencer, 319th Air Base Wing commander. “We are working diligently to complete this project as quickly as possible to reduce the inconvenience of traffic diversion.”

Department of Defense ID card holders will also be able to enter the base using the Eielson school gate, located north of the main gate on County Road 3, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors without base access must obtain a pass at the visitor’s center or commercial gate, based upon hours of operation. All traffic must exit the base through the commercial gate.
