Colonel JAMES B. GHERDOVICH

Colonel Gherdovich is commander of 319th Mission Support Group, Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. Col Gherdovich commands the 319 Reconnaissance Wing’s largest and most diverse group, comprised of over 1,300 personnel. He leads six squadrons to provide logistics, security, civil engineer, contracting, communications, and force support warfighting capabilities with $2.2 billion in facilities and equipment. He identifies and prioritizes the group’s mission requirements as he executes a $55 million budget. Col Gherdovich also provides facilities and support to mission partners including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security, and provides integrated base defense for Cavalier Air Base, North Dakota for the U.S. Space Force.

Col Gherdovich was raised outside of Houston, Texas and commissioned at USAFA in 1998. He commanded two logistics squadrons, and a cadet group at the United States Air Force Academy. He has been assigned to several operational, command, joint, and headquarters staff positions, deployed multiple times in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, and had the honor of leading joint teams into austere environments around the world to recover our nation’s heroes for Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command. Prior to his current assignment Col Gherdovich concentrated studies on the Information Domain, National Security Strategy, and Economic Policy at the Eisenhower School at Fort McNair, Washington DC.
