Grand Forks Air Force Base welcomes back the U.S. Air Force’s premier aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds, for an Air and Space Expo, August 1 and 2, 2020.  It will be the first time since May 22, 2010 Grand Forks AFB has opened its gates for an air show featuring the Thunderbirds.

“I’m so proud to bring back ‘America’s Ambassadors in Blue,’” said Colonel Ben Spencer, 319th Air Base Wing commander.  “The Greater Grand Forks community—our ‘Global Hawk Community’—continues to provide world-class support to this base, its Airmen, and their families.  I’ve never experienced such fantastic community support.  Bringing back the Thunderbirds for the first time in a decade will be exciting for the men and women of Grand Forks AFB and is also an opportunity to thank this community for its partnership over the past 50 years.  Mark your calendars now for an exciting weekend of aviation in August 2020.”

A planning team has already formed to develop the Grand Forks AFB show and more details will be announced as the show takes shape.  The two-year Thunderbirds schedule was announced this week at the International Council of Air Shows annual convention in Las Vegas.

The show will be free and open to the public. Additional information will be available on the website, www.grandforks.af.mil, on the Grand Forks AFB Facebook page, and on the new iPhone and Android app which users can find by searching “Grand Forks AFB” in the App Store or Google Play.
